Grant Program Goals 1-4
Goal 1
Services will be expanded to second language learners
within a dual language immersion model.
- To develop a comprehensive identification process of gifted and talented English and Spanish Language Learners.
- To select additional students, including recent immigrants, for the grant project.
Goal 2
All students will develop high levels of bilingualism
and biliteracy in Spanish and English.
- To reach high levels of achievement on standardized tests in both English and Spanish
- To qualify to enroll in Spanish III as freshmen.
Goal 3
Teachers will continue quality professional development to better identify and serve gifted and talented students.
- To provide professional development and university course work leading to a state GT endorsement or graduate degree.
- To develop and implement a Connecting Worlds/ Mundos Unidos Demonstration School for teacher training and project replication.
Goal 4
Students will be provided with a gifted and talented curriculum enriched with depth and complexity in a dual language setting.
- To develop creative and critical thinking and problem-solving skills as evidenced by advanced- level products in English and Spanish.
- To provide thematic, integrated instruction through a 50/50 model.
- To align curriculum guides to Kaplan’s Model of Depth and Complexity and TEA GT Student Performance Standards.
